New in | Kirsten Goss OXO

And so the Kirsten Goss wishlist grows longer.....

The latest range, called OXO celebrates 80's teknik - with interesting names like notwist, forma, mars, styks and pop. I might not really get the references as it was a little before my time, but I really don't care because the range is just. so. beautiful.

The pieces are bold yet simple and I love it.

The collection is available online and in-store from the middle of this month.

Kirsten Goss | #GetPersonal

If you've been reading my blog since the early days, you'll know I have a massive obsession with dainty jewellery. I've come to love a good statement piece, but small and pretty will always be my go-to when accessorising. I hadn't bought any new jewellery in a while, and then the Kirsten Goss invite popped into my inbox (Houston, we now have a problem. The fire has been reignited. >>insert money with wings emoji here<<).

I'd been admiring her brand and her journey from afar, yet never had the chance to have a look at any of the collections or meet the designer. All of that changed last week when she hosted a couple of fashion bloggers for a showcase of two collections, called #getpersonal and #diamondcondition. I'm just going to show you the first range today, because there is one hell of a lot of pretty to take in here. In a nutshell, KG is now offering personalisation on their range of jewellery and it is beautiful. Popular options are the Pinny and Barboa necklaces, or the Halo ring. The items are hand stamped by a very talented and patient goldsmith. You've got choices of sterling silver, rose gold vermeil, gold vermeil and 18kt gold.

We were also treated to a fashion film and a chat with Kirsten herself. Getting to chat to her and see her contagious energy and passion first hand made me fall in love her designs even more. Hopefully, just by wearing them, they'll pass on a bit of her incredible spark onto me. She also passed on this gem (if you'll excuse the pun): "While diamonds are forever, they are also for everyday". I like that. I like that a lot. This woman could be trouble actually....

At the end of KG's fabulous event, we were sent off with a little present - a Pinny necklace to call our own, which I've been wearing non-stop since. I love the simplicity. It is terribly chic.

The unlucky husband has already been sent a wishlist that covers every birthday, Christmas and anniversary presents for the next few years. I tried convincing him that we should celebrate 'monthaversarys' as well, but he was having none of it. Luckily there are plenty of lovely brunch spots along Bree that I can use as an excuse to pop in, with Dave in tow, and I'll slap him with the best puppy eyes I can manage. Or just slap him. Whatever works. (just kidding boo!)

Go on. Treat yo'self. Drag along someone who loves you and pop into the store on 229 Bree Street in Cape Town, or 366 Florida Road, Morningside, in Durbs. Joburg, there is even one for you at 64 St Andrew Street in Birdhaven. Or shop online at www.kirstengoss.co.za

The Jewellery List

You might have noticed by now that I have quite the obsession with anything sparkly. Collecting beautiful baubles has evolved into a bit of a hobby and I love nothing more than discovering local designers. Quite honestly, I truly believe that our local jewellery designers are the better than anywhere else in the world. They manage to be uniquely African, without trying too hard to be so. They also can design a dainty piece that is so truly beautiful, it manages to be a statement piece as well. And when you need a seeeerious statement piece, I don't know why you'd look anywhere else, but at our local designers.

The Jewellery List has made hunting for unique pieces even easier by creating a visual directory of all these beautiful items, and also makes sure to tell you about the talented people behind the design, and most importantly, where to buy!
They create lookbooks, and constant updates on all social media platforms letting you know when they have a new designer on board, a new range, special offers, and even an "Obsession of the Week" feature - which sucks me in just about every time.

They have given me a beautiful piece to give away - from their current designer obsession, Marzipan. This designer is doing some amazing things right now, and it exporting her eclectic and colourful designs to NYC, Italy, the UK and Germany to name a few.

All you need to do to get this gorgeous multi-stone necklace in your mitts is follow The Jewellery List on Twitter (which you should be doing to get all the pretty updates anyway!) and share the competition with your pretty friends. Don't forget to include @PrettyMintBlog and @JewelleryListSA in your tweet. The winner will be announced next week Monday afternoon. So get sharing and you could have a very pretty Christmas treat sent your way.

Shiny things: Kaika

Every now and then, a local jewellery designer pops up that just blows you away. Kaika is my latest obsession, because the pieces are so unique, and so versatile, they're perfect to wear with just about everything. Sharmn Cola was tired of having the same accessories as everyone else, so she started her jewellery line for the woman who wants to be bold, different and stylish. And who doesn't want to be all of those things? Sending Sharmn the highest of fives all round.

This is one of those posts where I could use up all my bandwidth on images. I wanted to put every single piece from the line in here! To see everything, you'll have to pop over to their website or Facebook page. But for now, here are just a few of my favourites.

Deer Ruby at Style36.co.za

Style36 is always adding great new brands to their site. I check in weekly to see what is new. This week I was pleasantly surprised by a new jewellery brand called Deer Ruby. As you may know by now, I am such a sucker for tiny, dainty pieces and this whole range ticks those boxes. The prices aren't bad, and range between R249 and R899.
There are so many pieces online, but here are my favorites - there are a few, so go make some tea and then come back and scroll through all the dainty, pretty baubles!

(To get to Style36, click on the link to the right of this post. Support a struggling blogger with a little love - I get a teeny commission on any purchases you make after click through the ad on my blog. Statement rings for under R100

Rings are the perfect accessory to add punch to any outfit. I am loving this season's variety of chunky stones, geometric designs and dainty stacking rings.

They are also the perfect stocking filler for Christmas - which in case you've been in hiding or denial, is right around the corner. I like getting my Christmas shopping done and dusted by the end of November. I think it is because I am a December baby, and so is my husband - so even without Christmas, it is a very busy and expensive month, and I need to be ahead of the game. Or else my bonus is spent on last minute running around the mall, which almost always ends up in over-spending.

I've done a little online recon for my pretty readers and found the best summer finger candy - and even the sweetest little storage boxes for them. So you don't even have to brave the mall to get your shopping done. Bonus.
And all of these are under R100! I am putting those ring boxes on my Christmas stocking wish-list, love them so much! One in each colour please!

  1. Stone Bead Multiband ring, R29,99 at Mr Price
  2. Large filigree ring, R29,99 at Mr Price
  3. Multi Flower Bow ring, R89,95 at Woolworths
  4. Three Stone ring, R99 at Style36.co.za
  5. Hearts Stack ring, R29,99 at Mr Price
  6. Gma Dome ring, R89,95 at Woolworths
  7. Textured and Stud rings, R69,95 at Woolworths
  8. Stone ring, R99 at Style36.co.za

In my Jewellery Box - Winston Lane

This week's In my Jewellery post has my heart a flutter. I actually can't even deal with how gorgeous the Winston Lane jewellery collection. I want it all. I need it all.

Winston Lane is the brainchild of the young, dynamic and ridiculously trendy Janna Bernic. Having tiny gimp wrists like myself, and struggling to find dainty pieces that suited such dainty wrists, she decided to design her own range. Entrepreneurial little thing! And sentimental too, as the brand is named after the street on which she grew up. I love a little background story.

Her designs are high-end pieces, custom made in either gold, brass, silver or the 'oh-so-hot-right-now' rose gold. I love that they have just the right amount of bling - nothing too in your face. The bracelets are perfect to stack with your favorite chunky watch, or alongside other dainty pieces.
As for the ring with the bracelet chain, I don't even have any words for how other-worldly beautiful it is. This will definitely be my first piece of Winston Lane jewellery.

For retailer info or orders, contact Janna Bernic on 011-447 0011
or check out the gorgeous website: www.winstonelane.co.za
