PUMA BY RIHANNA CREEPER

Yep its a pretty odd name for a shoe - but Rihanna isn't exactly well, not odd. She's the queen of strange and all things street so its not really a surprise that PUMA collaborated with her on a range.

There are 3 new colour ways and they are all available right now! I am obsessed with the white ones. Remixing the iconic PUMA Suede, the PUMA Creeper exudes a little bit of punk and rebel with its notorious creeper platform sole and suede upper. This month’s drop features NEW colour variations of peacoat/cool blue, off white/gum, and coral cloud pink/green/oatmeal.

I have been deliberating on a pair of platform sneakers for a while now. I am terrified that they'll make me look short and chunky. But I like the neutral colour of these platform soles, they're somehow less daunting and definitely less "Spice-Girlish" than ones with white soles.

The PUMA Creeper will be available at PUMA SELECT stores in Cape Town, Bree Street and Johannesburg, Braamfontein.

Sneakerhead Diaries | Simple chic

The sneaker obsession continues. I haven't picked up a pair of PUMA Trinomics yet. The signature style has been on my radar for ages but I haven't found a colour that won me over entirely. Until now. I love simple styling and understated chic and these tick both those boxes.

PUMA has released their latest addition to their Trinomic R698 sneaker range – the delectable R698 Soft Pack features the richness of a plush suede upper with subtle perforations for a lightweight finish in a choice of grey, pastel pink, black or teal. So cute! The pink has my name written all over them.

The R698 Soft Pack retails for R1 599 and drops through PUMA SELECT stores in Bree Street, Cape Town and Braamfontein, Johannesburg, as well as Shelflife - and they're available now. See you there next First Thursday for a tipple and some shoe shopping?

Trend on Trial: Dungarees

Yep, they're back. Dungarees have surfaced this winter and are sticking around right through to the coming summer. But be careful, because this time they are fitted, many sporting a skinny leg - so showing up in your 90's baggy pair won't score you any style points.

Being a little older, I am careful about what trends I'll try out. Partially because I don't want to look like I am trying too hard to cling to my early 20's, and partially because I don't want to waste money on something that barely makes a season and then it is dated and passé.
This is why I love Mr Price, as they make trying something new a lot easier on the pocket and if it doesn't work on you, or the trend fades faster that a Kardashian marriage, then you can dump it in the donate pile.

So I am trying out a pair of dungarees from tool ol' Mr P and so far so good. Their fit isn't bad at all, and even through I am between a size 32 and 34 right now thanks to my winter fat-coat, a size small is comfy and fitted in all the right places. I've paired them with my Converse sneakers and black leather ballet pumps so far - I don't think they'll be seeing heels on me, but that look may work for you. Less is more with these, so as to keep them simple and laid-back, but chic. So pair them with plain vests, anything grey, or a striped top.
They are wonderfully comfy and they'll definitely be my go-to outfit for chilled weekend brunches and for travelling in.

So our verdict for this trend on trial? We say go for it.

6 pairs of must-have Chic Kicks

Sneakers are everywhere for the coming season. From high-tops, to bright coloured trainers, to neutral colour Chuck Taylor styles - you need a pair or 3 for the coming Winter. So far I've invested in a pair of black high-tops, and not just any old pair, but the much-coveted Alexander McQueen Street Climb from the brand spanking new PUMA Select store. I am completely and utterly in love.

But one pair isn't going to cut it and I definitely want to inject some colour and fun into my winter wardrobe, and comfy and chick sneakers are the perfect was to do it. So here are some of my favorite of kicks:

1) New Balance trainers, R799 at Zando
2) Nike wedge sneakers, R1100 at Zando
3) Corina high-top sneaker, R849 at Country Road
4) Alexander McQueen for PUMA, R3000 at PUMA Select
5) Nike pink suede sneakers, R650 at Brands Online
6) Grey Melange sneakers, R199 at Woolworths (hello bargain!)

#StyleBloggerStarter - Challenge One

So for our first assignment, Glamour challenged us to become a "street style" photographer for the week and send in between 5 and 8 pictures with a common theme.

I have to say it had me in a spin because I am not the most outgoing person in the world and asking people to stop and pose frightened the bejeezus out of me. I had no idea where to begin.

My first thought was that I could fib and just tell people that I was an intern for The Sartorialist and hope they aren't too disappointed that they didn't get featured in his latest book. But you know, legal issues and such....not such a great plan.

Source: http://clatl.com

Plan B was to invite the bestie over for dinner, feed her lots of wine, promise her endless macarons and then con her into doing a fashion video montage a la The Sweetest Thing. But I have no doubt she'd push me in front of oncoming traffic if I posted that for the world wide web to see. That and, she has more dirt on me than this blog ever needs to see. So we'll nip that idea in the bud.

Finally, after much researching using my favorite style websites, blogs and good old Pinterest, I came up with a plan. I realised that the posts and pictures I enjoyed the most when it came to "street style" were ones of models "off duty". For example, the endless pictures we are seeing of the lovely Aussie shmodel Miranda Kerr making day-to-day style look easy.

So for my street style theme, I have chosen "Models off-duty". Its not focussed on a particular current trend, but rather a gorgeous collection of the gorgeous people rocking the best of Winter 2013. Because who interprets current trends better than the people who get to see it first, right?

I have to say a massive thanks to Donne at Ice Genetics and the wonderful models themselves for letting me rock up at your offices and stalk you all with my camera. And thank you for being just so ridiculously good, good, good looking.
You may also notice a familiar face - and I just have to say a special thank you to the unfairly tall, talented and beautiful, Liezel Van Der Westhuizen for joining in and her amazing support of the blog so far. Much love to you lady!

Now, I'll stop rambling on, and instead let you enjoy the pictures. I am beyond happy with the results. The fabulously trendy outfits, and the array of covetable boots and handbags - all just too gorgeous.
As only the pretty people can do...

This bag. No really, this bag. Gorgeous.

Love a man who isn't afraid of colour. And the boots - love!

Can you even handle that clutch?

The boots. The bodysuit. The studded jacket. I want it all. And her fabulous hair.

Have you ever seen neutrals look so good?

Legs for days. Amazing faux fur gilet, and the perfect "goes with everything" tan boots - from Green Cross
would you believe?

The loveliest lace look I have ever seen, and the grey suede booties and that aqua bag are on my covet list!
