Old Khaki Spring/Summer Collection

Its no secret that I am a huge Old Khaki fan. Every year I stock up on seasonal basics because their styling and quality is just so good. All your vests, cardis, and other basics are covered. I also have a chambray shirt I bought at the beginning of winter that I live and die in - the colour and fit are so perfect. Nothing looks worse than a denim shirt that makes you look like a truck driver.

If you missed out on that beaut of a purchase, don't stress your pretty little head because there is a gorgeous one in Old Khaki's Spring Collection. I love the light wash and will definitely be adding it to my cupboard - along with a few other items from the collection.
I love the subtle floral printed dress, the muted colours in the tank tops, dresses and cardis and the lovely light blue details in the accessories. Paired with a little ankle bootie and slouchy bag.....perfection.

Nothing like pastel colours and florals to make you pine for warmer weather. Come on Cape Town, shape up, ship out this miserable weather and bring on the Spring!

Some San Diego snaps

San Diego was a blast! We checked out the navy museum and marina area and it reminded us of Durban for some reason. Our hotel was in the Gaslamp Quarter which is the hub of SD nightlife and restaurants so we tried a few spots during our stay.

Onto the fun stuff...SeaWorld never disappoints and I finally got to live my dream of swimming with a dolphin. I can die now. My life has been made.
We also took a trip to the world famous zoo which was pretty cool.

What we were really keen on trying out was some authentic Mexican food seeing as San Diego is on the border of Mexico. This included glasses of margaritas bigger than our heads and shots of Mexican tequila. This didn't have a happy ending given that their shot glasses are the size of a tea cup! It wasn't my sexiest time. It did give me the balls to have my first go at karaoke though, so not a complete disaster. I waited around for applause and an invitation to record with Taylor Swift, but alas, my husband and a few drunk folks were my only fans.

Now we're in LA and loving it here! Can't believe we only have less than a week left :(

French Green Clay - face mask review:

I first read up about Alive Products on the lovely Abby's blog, One Stiletto At A Time.
She knows a thing or two about beauty products and we share a love for natural products. We're trying to be pretty on the inside as well as outside you see.... ;-)

I was delighted when I was sent two of their face masks to try out for myself. The last month has been rough on my skin with testing products and exercising like a demon getting in shape for my USA trip. My face has not been overly thrilled with me and has rewarded me with a not-so-pretty blotchy, irritated appearance.
I read up a little on the French green clay that is the basis of the Alive product range and was blown away by the overwhelming results people get when using it. Green clay lifts impurities and absorbs excess oils. It is one of nature's strongest antiseptics and anti-inflammatory - which is just what I needed to get rid of this bout of bad skin.

I was given the Green Envy as well as the Acne Combat masks to try out. Don't be put off by the name, as its not just for intense skin issues. I don't have much to complain about other than the odd pimple, and the redness, and this mask sorted me right out. I used it twice in four days and after each use my skin felt and looked clearer, softer and revitalised. I am so impressed and will be buying these again. I have tried a few masks in the last few months but nothing has given me this kind of result.

The Alive masks are 100% natural, as well as bio-organic. Even better is that they are water blended which means you can use it as much as you like without irritation. I have mine with me on my USA trip to keep my skin in check every few days. I actually have to be bold here and say that I don't foresee myself being able to use another face mask. This product has been a miracle worker for me.

You can find out about your closest stockist on their website over HERE. Good 'ol faithful Wellness Warehouse is a stockist and you're looking at a seriously reasonable R130 for a tub.

San Francisco trip in Instagram

It's been an amazing few days here in San Francisco. We have managed to really see and do it all, and have been so  lucky with the weather.

From clam chowder at Fisherman's Wharf, to biking across the Golden Gate Bridge, to watching a 49ers game, to walking through the Castro and Haight districts, riding vintage trolleys and walking up hills that would be better suited to hiking boots and ropes than my ballet pumps and jeans. It's been a busy 4 days, and thats not counting the shopping!

We finish up here today with a tour of Alcatraz followed by a concert at the Americas Cup Pavilion with Train, The Script and Gavin DeGraw playing.
Off to San Diego tomorrow, stay classy and I'll touch base again next week. For more photo updates of my travels, follow me on Instagram.

In my Jewellery Box - Winston Lane

This week's In my Jewellery post has my heart a flutter. I actually can't even deal with how gorgeous the Winston Lane jewellery collection. I want it all. I need it all.

Winston Lane is the brainchild of the young, dynamic and ridiculously trendy Janna Bernic. Having tiny gimp wrists like myself, and struggling to find dainty pieces that suited such dainty wrists, she decided to design her own range. Entrepreneurial little thing! And sentimental too, as the brand is named after the street on which she grew up. I love a little background story.

Her designs are high-end pieces, custom made in either gold, brass, silver or the 'oh-so-hot-right-now' rose gold. I love that they have just the right amount of bling - nothing too in your face. The bracelets are perfect to stack with your favorite chunky watch, or alongside other dainty pieces.
As for the ring with the bracelet chain, I don't even have any words for how other-worldly beautiful it is. This will definitely be my first piece of Winston Lane jewellery.

For retailer info or orders, contact Janna Bernic on 011-447 0011

The weekend in Instagram

We are leaving for California tomorrow! I am so excited, I can already taste the Root Beer, Lucky Charms, salt water taffy and general deep fried goodness!

The weekend was spent prepping for our travels. We picked up a travel wallet/folder at Typo and like mind readers they had a gorgeous canvas with a California map printed on it. It will be mine when we get back. Packing is every girl's nightmare and I still have a lot to get done. I only managed to get as far as choosing bikinis.

Friday was a seriously indulgent day, with a coffee date with some of my gorgeous girlfriends. We discovered that our favorite spot for cake now does a cake tasting platter. This solves the eternal problem of deciding which one to have. You can choose 4 half slices to try out and this delighted Lol and I to no end. So we shared a platter with red velvet cake, chocolate cake, red velvet cheesecake, and lastly, a turkish delight cake. Bliss on a plate.
We then went to Brenaissance in Stellenbosch to celebrate a friends birthday. I have posted about their pizza before - its heavenly. Think biltong, feta, caramelized onions....yum!

Saturday was spent with my family. A feast of fish and chips combined with family time and puppy cuddles from my fluffy little bear, Vida. Doesn't her fuzzy little face melt your cold dead heart?

The weekend was rounded off with a yoga session, before spending some quality time with Dave's folks at Harbour House at the Waterfront. Its the first time we'd been there and we were hugely impressed. I had the most divine mussels.

Lastly, I just have to tell you about these face masks I discovered. French green clay masks from Alive Products. I have never got results from an at-home facial like this. The mask I am currently trying out cleared my skin up in a day and left it feeling so soft, yet so clean and clear! The full blog post is coming soon.

Have a gorgeous week. I'll still be updating the blog on Mondays with photos from our travels, while the rest of the week will still have plenty of pre-scheduled prettiness for you to indulge your eyeballs in.

xx
