Pinteresting Winter Inspo

If you don’t follow me on Pinterest, what is wrong with you? Kidding. Not really. I love my pinterest page very much and spend time on it every single day. Curating boards of beautiful things helps me de-stress and unwind. It also helps plan outfits – which is my favorite part about it. If I need a little inspiration, I have a look at whichever board applies to the occasion and try and shop my own closet to match a look that I love.

I’ve used my Winter outfit Pinterest board to show you what I mean. Here are some amazing winter looks that I love. Just some pretty things to stare at and inspire while I'm away. I get back this weekend so I'll be back to normal posting and talking about my travels and shopping next week.

Who to follow on Instagram | Fitness

Whenever I am feeling too lazy to workout, I turn to Instagram for some motivation. This is who I follow for a bit of 'fitsperation'.

Kayla Itsines – If this girl and her 12 week guide doesn’t get your butt out the door and into the gym, nothing will.

Benelibody – Dominique, a local model and fitness enthusiast who posts great recipes and mini-workouts that you can do from your hotel room.

Sweat 1000 – I love my gym and my fitness family. They post plenty of inspiring quotes and images, and the power couple that is Paul and Concetta each have their own incredibly inspiring personal accounts too.

Skinny confidential – Lauren is my favorite fitness and health blogger. Her recipes are fantastic and her laid back and witty style of writing is so welcoming. She is a serious hottie and I end up trying out pretty much anything she recommends.

Kristen Sundberg – Her abs. Absperation. Abs abs abs. *brb, off to do nine thousand situps*

Clinging to youth

After hitting the big 3-0, I suddenly noticed the way conversation about skin changed with my girlfriends. Suddenly everything became about anti-aging, preserving youth or the worst, still getting breakouts when we thought we’d left those years well behind us.
What is boils down to is being a grown up about it and begin investing in your skin for your later years. Odds are you’ve probably done a fair amount of damage by baking in the sun in your 20’s. So your 30’s is as good a time as any to try and make up for it as best you can. This means shelling out on skincare and treatments. Be it botox, laser, peels and intensive facials, to establishing a proper at-home regime with decent products.

This is where Amy from Pulse Dermatology came into my life. I was referred by a friend and went to try out a “lunchtime lift” laser therapy. I also sat with Amy to chat about Botox and fillers, and using the correct products to correct things that I worry about like pigmentation. She was based in the UK for years and has a long list of celebrity clients, including Kate Moss, under her belt – so you couldn’t be in better hands. After the facial my skin was brighter, tighter and firmer - which is my secret for still coming out in my 20's on that nasty "how old am I" app.
She also sent me off with a Meseostetic brightening cream that I use in the evenings, which has done wonders for my skin tone and pigmentation. The whole switch to professional skincare is not a cheap round – but I’d rather swap out my takeaway coffees for the month and still look 30 when I’m 45. Well, that’s the goal anyway….

Rainy Day Essentials

It is finally winter and it is my favorite time of year in terms of fashion.  Rainy day gear always makes me smile. I just want to pop on some wellies, go splash in puddles, and then go find somewhere with a roaring fireplace and a vase-sized glass of red wine.

American Beauty

It is no secret that I fully intend on going nuts on beauty and makeup products while in America. Their selection of amazing brands is second to none, and most of them won't be making their way to our shores anytime soon, or at all. So this is what I am stocking up on:

The much raved about Bite watercolour set - how pretty is it? Just look at it!

Burt's Bees firming day lotion - anything by this brand I buy. Their blemish treatment is my saviour.

Diptyque candles and fragrances - absolutely has to be done.

Okay, these hopefully will end up in SA, but I really want to sample this pretty eyeshadow palette - and it is soon affordable.

I read some phenomenal reviews, including one that said this products is like a Valencia filter for your face. Sold!

Anthropology's tinted lip treatment. This is one of my favourite stores to browse, and this lip treatment is getting some great reviews.

I am actually buying Philosophy's purity facial cleanser as a makeup brush cleaner, on the recommendation of my very clever cousin. Will let you know how that goes.

Smith & Cult nail lacquers. Mostly for the beautiful bottles. I want them all.

Sonia Kashuk makeup brush set(s). They are amazing quality and in good 'ol Target, you can get them for a steal, so I'll be stocking up.

Mario Badescu rosewater facial spray. I've seen it on so many beautiful people's 'top shelf' and read outstanding reviews. It is a must-try.

What would be on your wishlist? Chat to me in the comments section and maybe I'll bring it home for a giveaway!

xx
