Lush online

Lush haven't been in South Africa long, but they've created a big enough cult following that they've already opened their online store. As of yesterday, you are able to have your favourite Lush goodies delivered straight to your door. While I enjoy the sights and smells of my local V&A Waterfront store, it is great to know that I can buy my favourites from the comfort of my couch.

In honour of their online venture, I'm sharing my current favourite products, and repeat purchases from this brand. This is no sponsored post, and my husband can attest to the fact that every single one of these are scattered somewhere in our bathroom.

The Bubblegum lip scrub
It smells good, and is made with caster sugar and vegan flavouring, so it tastes good too. It scrubs away rough, dead skin, and leaves my lips super soft. I would say about half the tub is licked off before any scrubbing gets done however. They also have a mint flavour, as well as a popcorn one - which is definitely on my list of things to try out.

The Buffy bar
I am never without one of these in my bathroom. I am inherently lazy and if there is any product that does more than one job at once, I will buy it. This scrubs and moisturises. You may want to only use it at night before bed as you're a bit greasy for a few minutes after you hop out of the shower - but after that you are left with the softest, smoothest skin. That is all thanks to the shea butter mixed in with the exfoliants - ground up rice and almonds. Don't leave the store without this!

Marilyn Hair Treatment
If you're a blondie, this stuff is your friend. But even if you're not, its worth a try because it leaves your hair shiny and soft and smelling good. I use it once a week to give my hair some goodness and to bump up the blondness.

Ocean Salt Face and Body scrub
This is what I turn to when I feel like my face is grimy and had a day of too much make-up, dirt and general abuse. It is made with lime, coconut and sea salt and I feel like I could breathe through my pores after giving my mug a good scrub with this stuff. I also love that it comes in two container sizes and often take the little one with me on my travels.

 Ro's Argan Body Conditioner
This amazing body cream smells of rose jam and soothes your soul and completely nourishes your body. With a huge array of oils and butters, all locked in with glycerin - totally luxurious, and very effective. I think it will also be a handy companion after too much sun this Summer!

 The Comforter
Just like the Buffy Bar above, I always have a stash of these at home. This is my favourite bubble bath in the entire world. It's fun crumbling it up and watching it foam up under the tap as you draw your bath. It smells like heaven and leaves your bath water a pretty pink colour. The scent soothes me so much. I have tried most of the other bubble bars, but I always end up coming back to this one. I think it must be my sickening sweet tooth. The poor husband has to witness a face-masked troll sitting in pink bath water while trying to eat her lip scrub. Sexiness is.

So that is my constant Lush wishlist/staples. Hop on over to www.lush.co.za and fall in love with some of your own.

The prettiest little ballet pumps

Say what you like about ballet pumps, I'll never listen. The fashion pack tried to declare them a thing of the past this year, only to eat their words when Saint Laurent brought them right back. Whether they're the footwear du jour or not, I'll always love them and collect them. I have too many pairs for my own good and I'll keep on adding to the collection. Comfort aside, I truly believe they are timelessly chic. They are dainty, pretty and feminine. They balance out masculine items such as jeans and a biker jacket, the smarten up your skinnies and blazer combos, and of course are just lovely with a sundress. Ballet pumps are easily the most versatile accessory in your closet. So go forth pretty friends, and buy more.

Here are my picks for this season...

1. Forever New Imogen ballet pumps, R599 at Style36
2. Quilted black ballet pumps, R249 at Zoom Footwear
3. Interlaced leather ballet pumps, R149,99 at Mr Price
4. Nude patent ballet pump, R69,99 at Mr Price
5. Metallic ballet pumps, R120 at Woolworths
6. Gino Paoli floral ballet pumps, R299 at Spree
7. Coral detailed ballet pumps, R230 at Spree

The weekend in Instagram

It was a perfect Summer weekend in Cape Town. Plenty of time was spent on the promenade, at the Waterfront and the beach.
I did a little damage to the bank balance on Friday evening while trawling the shops. I also got a little spoil from the gorgeous people at Lush. Thanks so much for my Dream Cream - already in love!

On Saturday we popped in to high five young Blake on his 1st birthday - and I was in awe of his talented mom's baking chops. How adorable are her minion cupcakes?
We then got ourselves gussied up and went through to Molenvliet in Stellenbosch to a wedding of one of our favorite couples. It was one of the most beautiful weddings I've been too, and also the first time I've seen a bride don a Jason mask - the things that happen in those photobooths.... Very special.

On Sunday we had brunch with our besties, who introduced us to the best Milo milkshake ever. No pictures of those because they were wolfed down in mere seconds. After a hearty brunch, we went back to the homestead and after a much-needed nap, we ventured across the road to enjoy the gorgeous hot weather at the beach. That evening, still hungover, we ordered take-aways, grabbed our favorite sodas from 'Merica (pew pew) and hit the couch.

Now for a very busy and exciting week ahead!
xx
Leigh

Christmas Inspiration

Image: Source

Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love the time with family, the cheer in the air, swapping gifts and gorging on delicious, rich foods. I am beyond excited this year, so much so, that I have already got the tree up and have got cracking on the decor around our living room. Our walls are navy blue - so that pretty much eliminates too much of the red, green and gold traditional colours - and instead I am keeping everything in neutral white, grey and silver.
It is also my first time hosting Christmas lunch and I can't wait to serve up a feast, start traditions and have a full, messy home full of love and laughter.

Here are some images from my Pinterest board that have inspired some ideas of my own. I'll definitely do a post with any DIY projects and decor finds closer to Christmas. You can follow me on Pinterest HERE
