I meant to do this post last week and was unfortunately stuck in transit with no Wi-Fi. So here it is at last, a week late.
While L.A. isn't the prettiest place in the world, certainly not by Capetonian standards anyway, it has a wonderful energy. Everyone you meet is a struggling actor about to make their big break. There are beautiful people, cars and things everywhere you turn. The shopping is something spectacular and so is the food.
We ticked off all the Hollywood stuff straight away - The Walk of Fame, Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the open-bus tour along some Hollywood hotspots and celebrity homes. The next few days were spent between shopping at The Grove and Farmers Market, road tripping and exploring, and most importantly, Disneyland!
We stayed in Santa Monica on our last day and spent it checking out the beach, the pier as well as some brilliant street performers on the Third Street Promenade. It was a complete coincidence that we spent out last day at the official end of the historic Route 66, but what a perfect and poetic ending to our trip. I'm just going to claim that I planned it that way. ;)
I'll be doing a full post with loads of pics on each place we went with details of where to go, what to eat etc. I have loads of 'Merica travel tips to impart.
Good to back though. I missed you guys!
